This is the BBC One "Hippos" ident. It is a fairly long ident at 30 seconds, however, when shown on the channel, the ident will only be around 15 seconds which is not too long. The ident is not very complex as the only things in the ident are hippos and the ocean. However, the lighting is quite complex as there are different shades of blue and these keep moving due to the water. In the ident, there are hippos swimming in what seems to be the ocean. They then come together to form the BBC One "Circle." The target audience is most likely middle aged to elderly people as the ident is quite calm and peaceful and there is not much going on and this would therefore appeal to people of the age bracket. This fits their corporate identity as firstly, it shows the BBC One circle and this straight away tells the audience what channel they are watching. Furthermore, this ident is of the best quality and looks realistic and this also strengthens their idea that they show the best quality programmes.
This is the BBC Three "Outro World" ident. This ident is around 20 seconds long and this is the usual length of a TV ident. The ident is far more complex than the BBC One ident as there is so much more happening in the ident. It starts off in the middle of the world of BBC Three and a plug turns on all of the lights in the world. It also makes different coloured liquid flow through the pipes dotted around the world, and the liquid then fills up a pipe that spells out "Three." However, for the user to see this, the ident has to zoom out taking the user into a space like background with neon glow clouds and people swimming on ropes hanging from these clouds. There is so much more happening in this ident that makes me believe that the ident is targeted at younger people, because it contains all of these bright colours and different shades that it would appeal more to a younger audience than an older audience. The ident also represents the BBC Three identity as they can be seen as "random" and "confusing" due to the sort of programmes they show. They mainly show comedies that appeal to a younger audiences and older people would therefore says these things about the channel.
This is the E4 "Hotel Room" ident. The ident is around 30 seconds long and again, this can be seen as a fairly long ident but some of it may not be shown like the BBC One ident. In comparison to the other idents, this is the most complex. Firstly, it is all done in stop motion technology which in itself, would have taken an extremely long amount of time. Furthermore, there is so much going on in the ident that it begins getting too much. It starts in a normal hotel room but then purple appears and objects begin to come alive like pillows and paper olds into origami swans. There are also lasers included in the ident, purple like liquid and an octopus. This would definitely appeal to younger audience as this is something they would like. Younger people like to see random things and objects, objects coming to life and scenes only seen on si-fi films. It also put across the channel identity of mystery as people don't know what is going to happen in the ident.
